There is an “official” webpage for me on the website of the University of Groningen.
Social media for researchers
I write code to solve problems.
- For research (numerical simulations; symbolic computations) I use C++, Python, and Mathematica.
- For working more efficiently and establishing a workflow I use Python, Applescript, and Emacs Lisp.
All programs I write (and all mathematical papers) live under version control. I use
git although I find its command-line interface unfriendly and often consider switching to
mercurial. For most projects I keep a central repository at Bitbucket. I chose Bitbucket because it offers unlimited accounts for academic users.
I appreciate good photography but, as a photographer, I am very far from a level I would dare call “good”. In the past years I have been carrying a Nikon D5000, usually with the versatile AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G and occasionally with the lighter AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G. Some of my photos are on flickr.
Recently, my main photographic subject has been my son and my camera of necessity an iPhone 5. Because it is always there and always connected.
